DPMM FC captain Rosmin Hj Mohd Kamis has called on his teammates to fire themselves up ahead of tonight's Singapore League (S-League) match against Home United FC.
Third in the table and just one point behind leaders Balestier Khalsa FC and second-placed Hougang United FC, DPMM FC are gunning for their third straight S-League win to continue their flying start to the Steve Kean era - but Rosmin knows that outings against the sixth-placed Protectors are always tough ones.
"What we need is passion and to take every chance that we are given," said Rosmin in an interview with The Brunei Times ahead of the game at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.
"It is going to be difficult since they (Home United) managed good results in their last two matches, and I won't say that we are confident but we just need to play together as a team like we did in the last two matches.
"We also will have to maintain what we do best and try to avoid making mistakes," he added yesterday.
DPMM FC started their campaign with a 1-0 win over Japanese side Albirex Niigata (S) FC on Feb 22 and followed that up with a 2-0 home win against Warriors FC on Feb 28.
Home United are coming off a 1-1 draw against Indonesian side Persipura in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Tuesday, while their last league match saw them triumph 4-1 against Geylang International FC at the Bishan Stadium in Singapore on March 1.
Asked what to watch out for against Home United, the captain replied: "Honestly, I don't know much about them."
"I only know they have made changes to the team this year and they have taken in some good players from around the league.
"I watched their first match against Tampines Rovers on television... They are a very good passing team and they like to go forward every time," continued the midfielder, who got on the scoresheet in the 2-0 result against the Warriors.
DPMM FC's defence will be key once again as they have kept clean sheets in their first two matches of the season - and are the only side in the 12-team league yet to let in a goal.
Left back Sairol Hj Sahari, who returned to the squad at the start of the year after a meniscus tear to his right knee last August, also knows they are up against some stiff opposition.
"We just need to play our normal game. I know that it is going to be hard but we will try our best," said Sairol.
"So far the season has gone well. We want to keep the momentum going and help each other out in keeping a clean sheet.
"We have to watch out for all of them (Home players) because we never know what will happen in football. We must be alert at all times and I can say we will try our best to grab points out of the game," he concluded.
DPMM FC will once again be banking on in-form Brazilian striker Rodrigo Tosi, who got his name on the scoresheet in both matches, to lead the charge. He will partner marquee signing Roy O'Donovan - who has yet to open his account with the club.
Fan favourite Shahrazen Said is still in search of his first start.
Balestier shot to the top of the 12-team table after a 1-0 victory over 10-man Tanjong Pagar United FC at the Toa Payoh Stadium in Singapore last night.
Tanjong Pagar were down a man after Masrezwan Masturi was sent to the showers in the 54th minute, but they were already trailing. Goran Ljubojevic scored his goal from outside the box in the fourth minute.
Balestier currently sit on seven points from three matches, as are Hougang.
Over at the Jalan Besar Stadium, the Young Lions (Singapore national Under-23 team) and Woodlands Wellington FC shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
Shamil Sharif made it the best of starts for the Young Lions after finding the back of the net just 40 seconds in before Milos Jevtic equalised in the 40th minute.
The Young Lions regained the lead in the 81st minute through Shamil before Rosman Sulaiman struck for Woodlands three minutes later to ensure both teams walk out of the game with a point.
