The Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) bowed out of the Veteran Football Association (VFA) FA Cup after losing to Mix FT yesterday.
Contested at the Stadium Hassanal Bolkiah at the Royal Brunei Police Forces headquarters in Gadong, the policemen were held to a 3-3 draw in regulation time and lost 4-3 to Mix FT in a penalty shoot-out.
"We were a bit shaky in the defence today... all the players did their best in the game, but in the end we were very unfortunate to lose to Mix FT in a penalty (shootout)," said MS PDB assistant coach Shahrin Hj Mohd Jaya in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.
Mohd Nadzrin Abdullah scored a brace for MS PDB and Hamdi Hj Abdul Hamid also got his name onto the score sheet in the defeat.
Salleh Hj Mohd Sam, Pg Kamal Pg Hj Besar and Hj Majid Hj Ahmad scored for Mix FT.
Over at the Awang Semaun Secondary School in Kg Lumapas, XN FT are through to the next round after defeating Al Idrus 3-2.
Meanwhile at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Secondary School in Tutong, a goal each from Muhd Nur Adli Tujoh and Tawang Siba helped Persatuan Sang Jati Dusun (PSJD) to beat Setia Bakti 2-0 to progress into the second round of the tournament.
The competition continues with the second round on March 28 and 30.
