Nurul Mohd Andi Hambali (pic) will face Juliano Licup in the final of the 1st Leg Brunei Darussalam Tennis Association Open Men's Singles today at 7pm.
Andi secured his final berth after beating Abdul Rasheed Abdullah two straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
"It was a good game and Rasheed was really consistent, he's one of the (better) players in Brunei," Andi said in an interview with The Brunei Times after his victory.
"It was a fifty-fifty chance for me to make it to the finals and I wasn't that confident going into this game. I was really nervous," he said.
"The last time I played Licup I lost badly but I will keep confident," added Andi.
Licup cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Mohd Yusree Hj Mohd Yusainey in his semi-final match at the National Tennis Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
"It was a good game and Yusree was really powerful but I managed to return his shots and kept calm," said Licup following his match.
"I have played against Andi before and this is a rival match.
"I think this is my fourth time playing him. Andi beat me the first time and then the second and third I won.
"I don't know how it will be this time, the boy is so good and powerful now. I'll just play my game and do my best," added Licup.
In the consolation semi-final rounds, Jermaine Francis defeated Jay Yong 9-6 while Ali Bakurtheen out-played Zen Sii 9-3.
Francis and Bakurtheen's final will be played simultaneously with Andi and Licup's clash tonight.
