Hosts of this year's Malaysia Games (SUKMA), Perlis are confident there will be no glitches in getting the competition venues ready for the May 24-June 4 multi-sport event.
Malaysian national news agency Bernama reported that Perlis Menteri Besar Azlan Man is confident works to prepare the competition venue for the 17th edition of the now-annual even is on schedule.
He said, to date, the construction of new venues or upgrading existing ones were on the right track.
"Judging the works currently being carried out, I am confident everything will be completed on schedule, in time for SUKMA," he told reporters when asked to comment on the latest development on preparations for the 17th Sukma on Saturday.
Malaysian Youth and Sport Minister Khairy Jamaluddin who visited the competition venue to check on the preparations had expressed concern it might not be completed on time, especially the Aquatic Centre.
On the minister's concern, Azlan admitted to the delay but was confident the contractor could still complete the project as had been stipulated. Brunei are expected to join this year's SUKMA.
