Brunei's campaign at the London Olympics have ended and the chosen three have proven their worth.
The trio of Anderson Lim Chee Wei, Maziah Mahusin and Ak Hafiy Tajuddin Pg Rositi have done the country proud.
Despite the Sultanate competing at the Games from Universality Places, all three of them went to the July 27-Aug 12 Olympics with a mission, which is to go faster than their previous best, and they delivered just that.
His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BNOC), was at the stands for their respective events to give his support.
HRH was delighted with the results from the country's athletes and in a press statement congratulated Brunei's heroes.
"My congratulations to Anderson Lim Chee Wei, Maziah Mahusin and Ak Hafiy Tajuddin Pg Rositi who have done very well in their respective events in which all of them achieved their target by breaking their personal best. I did remind them during my recent visit to the athletes village, that they need to focus and concentrate on their events and never let anything distract their mind and concentration. I also told them that their achievement in the Games will be their very own and nobody else. So I have urged them to work hard and take this opportunity to achieve better result which will make themselves, their respective family and country proud. "Anderson Lim was simply fantastic. He has the right mindset and attitude as well as very disciplined in his training and during the heat itself. With full commitment and determination he has done what every top athlete would have done, that is to better his personal best and national record.
"It's a big time show and he has done it tremendously well in front of big crowd that comes from all over the world at the Aquatic Centre. I hope he will continue to work hard and take this experience to achieve future success," HRH said in the statement.
"Maziah was amazingly unbelievable. The official announcement made soon after the race at the Olympic Stadium that Maziah, the flag bearer of Brunei Darussalam's contingent during the Opening Ceremony, has set the new Brunei Darussalam national record (under one minute mark) and the way the full capacity crowd of 80,000 reacted with loud applause was so unreal, unexpected and unbelievable," HRH added.
"Her commitment and determination was rock solid until the finish line. I guess this is what Olympic Games is all about, which can inspire a generation. I am so proud of her and I am sure her family, fellow national athletes and Brunei Darussalam, too.
"Ak Hafiy was a fighter. He has accomplished his mission in breaking his personal record. He has pushed himself to the limit in front of full capacity of the Olympic Stadium. It's a big time show for him and we were so proud to watch. My congratulation to Ak Hafiy and I hope he can keep up the good work," HRH said in the statement.
"In general, all three athletes have given their best efforts and executed their responsibility outstandingly. It also showed the credibility of Brunei Darussalam National Selection Committee, who had rightly selected them to represent the Nation at this XXX Olympiad Games 2012."
Brunei's first Olympic swimmer, Lim, was the first to see action and he broke his previous national record in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2:02.26 last Sunday.
Maziah, who is the first Bruneian female to lace up at the Games, followed up with her run in the 400m event where she crossed the line with a new national record of 59.28 seconds on Friday.
Last but not least, Ak Hafiy concluded Brunei's campaign at the July 27-Aug 12 Olympics when he finished his 400m event with a time of 48.67s for a new personal best on Saturday.
