The final countdown to the greatest show on earth has begun.
With just 100 days left to the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, yesterday saw a flag-raising ceremony at the British High Commission at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital.
Present as the guest of honour was Datin Paduka Hjh Adina Othman, the Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
British High Commissioner Rob Fenn and other members at the High Commission were also in attendance.
London won the bid to become the first city ever to host the Games for a third time.
Brunei will be sending at least two athletes for the July 27- Aug 12 event.
The Sultanate will be competing in the Olympics because of universality places which the world governing bodies for athletics and swimming, the International Association of Athletics Federation and International Swimming Federation respectively; have opened to countries with no qualified athletes.
Chances are that swimmer Anderson Lim Chee Wei and hurdler Maziah Mahusin will be flying the flag for Brunei at the event.
The duo were awarded London 2012 Olympic Scholarships last September and have regularly represented the country over the past couple of years.
