Brunei picked up their second medal at the Asian Para Games yesterday after national para athlete Norhensan Hj Mataha recorded a throw of 18.30 metres in the F12 women's Discus Throw event in Guangzhou, China.

The distance thrown also replaced her personal best of 18.05m.

Hosts China bagged the gold with a throw of 36.58m while Malaysia finished in second recording a throw of 31.24m.

Unfortunately, Norhensan was the only bright spark for the country as the rest failed to add to the medal tally.

An Nur'Haiyyu Yusof, who won the Sultanate's first medal in the competition on Wednesday in the T12 women's 100m, finished in third place in the T12 women's 200m event crossing the line with a time of 31.86s. Despite her position, she was not awarded a medal since there were only three participants. Both the gold and silver medals were won by China.

Rosli Hj Hastan missed out on a medal after he finished in fourth place in the F44 Discus Throw with a throw of 31.07m. It was an improvement from his personal best of 30.85s.

Compatriot John Vianni Anak Chandau took sixth place in the same event with his throw of 28.87m erasing his previous personal best of 28.52m.

Over in the F54/55/56 men's Discus Throw, Hirdan Hj Abd Kadir finished in 15th place out of 26 contestants with a throw of 21.10m while compatriots Shari Hj Jumaat took 19th with a throw 20.71m.

Razali Subi failed to make it into the final after he finished in last amongst the eight participants in the T44 men's 200m with a time of 27.85s, eclipsing his previous personal best of 28.00s.

Last but not least, Martin Dawat achieved a new personal best with a time of 1:00.20 in the T12 men's 400m event despite finishing last in the semi-finals. His previous best was 1:08.07.

Today is another chance for the Sultanate's para athletes to add to their medal haul with six of the athletes seeing action

The duo of Rosli and John Vianni will take part in the F44 men's Shot put event while Razali will try his luck in the F44 men's Long Jump.

Hirdan and Shari will see action in the F55 men's Javelin Throw while Alihan Muda, the sole representative at the Delhi Commonwealth Games last month, will participate in the F34 men's Javelin Throw.
