It was a day to forget for the national lawn bowling team competing at the Commonwealth Games at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex in New Delhi yesterday.
The duo of Hj Naim Brahim and Abd Rahman Hj Omar were downed 2-0 (9-12, 5-14) by Australia in their Group B match for the pairs men event.
However, they redeemed themselves with a 2-0 (12-6, 13-3) victory over Niue Island later in the day, which unfortunately was the only triumph yesterday.
The trio of Hjh Lilimaryani Ampuan Salleh, Hjh Fatmah Hj Ibrahim and Hjh Ajijah Muntol were so close in making their debut on a winning one but eventually fell 2-1 (12-5, 8-9, 5-6) to Norfolk Island in Group B of the triples women event.
They lost to Wales 2-0 (6-10, 9-12) in their second game.
There was no luck for the triples men's team of Yakup Amit, Md Ali Bujang and Hj Rosli Hj Ibrahim as they fell 2-0 (5-13, 2-15) to Scotland.
The trio were then hammered 2-0 (5-12, 7-16) by Canada later in the day.
It was the same affair for Esmawandy Ibrahim and Siti Ervi Fedarussanti Umar in the pairs women event in Group B. They failed to keep up their form that saw them win both their games on Monday.
They were defeated 2-0 (7-17, 4-11) by Scotland and England made it a United Kingdom sweep winning with a 2-0 (2-19, 5-11) scoreline.
The lawn bowlers will again take to the pitch with eight matches scheduled for competition.
Esmawandy and Siti Ervi will start off the day as they lock horns against Jersey in the pairs women's event before a date with Wales.
The team of Yakup, Md Ali and Hj Rosli will try to turn things around against New Zealand in the triples men's event in Group A before taking on Australia.
The duo of Hj Naim and Abd Rahman will try to keep pace against Scotland and Swaziland in the pairs men's event in Group A while the trio of Hjh Lilimaryani, Hjh Fatmah and Hjh Ajijah will hope to barge into the win column against Canada and Malaysia in Group A of the triple women's event.
The Sultanate's sole para-athlete Alihan Muda will open his campaign today in the men's shot putt F34 event at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
