Amnahliyani Md Husain is definitely on the check list to be selected for the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) meet in Dubai from Dec 15-19.

The 20-year-old won her third straight Open event when she finished with a time of 35.63s in the 50m butterfly of yesterday's 2nd MICIA Inter-Club Age Group Swimming Championship 2010.

Contested at the Aquatic Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas, Amnahliyani won both the Women's 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle events on Friday.

"I just went out there and tried my best but I believe that Amanda (Liew Jia Xin)'s times are faster eventhough she's not competing," Amnahliyani told The Brunei Times yesterday.

"I haven't been training as much as my qualifying exams are coming up and I'm not really satisfied with my times as I believe that I can do better," she added.

When asked on her chances of being selected to compete at the Dubai Sports Complex, she replied: "I think that my chances are low despite winning because I still don't think that my time is good enough."

Another name that is a contender for one of the two slots on offer was Lim Jyh Jye.

Lim finished second in both the Men's 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke events and finally struck gold yesterday in the 50m freestyle after he clocked a time of 28.55s.

Despite that he believes there are still others ahead of him.

"There are a lot of fast swimmers such as (Siu Kent) Chung and Christian (Nickles) who can win the slots. Nonetheless, I'm satisfied with the times of the events that I've competed in because I've beaten my previous best times," said Lim.

Meanwhile, Nickles is looking good to capture the Best Boy award for Group 3 (11-12 years old) after his haul of nine gold and two silvers after two days.

"I targetted to win the award before the tournament but what I really wanted to do was to hit up some good times," said Nickles.

"I'm not satisfied with my times yet as there is always room for improvement," he added.

"I was hoping to get into 57s for the 100m freestyle but could only manage a mid 58s time. My coach told me that my first lap was not quick enough," continued Nickles.

The organisers did not release the medal tally after day two and would only do so at the end of the three-day competition.

The final day of the tournament commences today at 2.30pm.
