Bruneian wushu athlete bags bronze

Seventeen-year-old Bruneian wushu athlete Lim Yee Sean yesterday collected the Sultanate’s first medal at the 8th World Junior Wushu Championship taking place in Indonesia after taking bronze in the Girl’s Taichi Sword category.

The young female athlete scored 9.06 points to land herself on the podium finish. Singapore’s Jolie Goh took silver with the score of 9.09 and Macau’s Wai meng Kuok emerged at the gold medalist with 9.36.

National wushu coach Li Hui said, “Lim Yee Sean is a very young wushu athlete and under the guidance of female coach Zhao Chunjie has shown vast improvement.

“She managed to secure third place in this world international competition which is pretty impressive.”

Meanwhile wushu athlete Walid Lachkar finished in 13th spot in the Boy’s Changquan A event after finishing with 9.220 score.

“Walid finishing in 13th is also quite an achievement because the event has the most participation with 38 athletes,” Li Hui said.
