Brunei bags first gold in SEA Games

Brunei Darussalam’s impressive start to the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games reached new heights after bagging their first gold medal in wushu at the World Trade Centre in Pasay, Philippines yesterday.

National wushu star Mohammad Adi Salihin bin Roslan struck gold in the combined Men’s Nandao and Nangun events after he accumulated an overall total of 19.28 points.

Brunei’s medal rush continued in wushu as rising star Hosea Wong Zheng Yu grabbed bronze in the Men’s Taijijian event after posting a score of 9.60 points.

The 16-year-old, who was making his maiden SEA Games appearance is now a multiple medallist having scooped silver in the Men’s Taijiquan event a day earlier.

Meanwhile in lawn bowl, Amaliah binti Haji Matali and Esmawandy binti Ibrahim secured the silver medal in the women’s pairs event. The pair was defeated 14-21 by Malaysia’s duo. Brunei so far hauled one gold, three silver and three bronze in the 30th SEA Games.
