National cueist Hj Md Alirani Hj Besar (pic) advanced to the next round of the Pro X 9-Ball Open Championship 2014 after winning both his Group D matches last night.
He opened his account with a 7-5 victory over Muhammad Alias Hj Rashid at the Pro X Pool House in Gadong. Alirani then overcame Lim Charng Hui 7-3 to pocket his last-16 berth at the June 11-15 competition.
Harris Abdullah also progressed to the next round with triumphs over Pg Hj Husairi Pg Hj Metusain (7-3) and Lim Han Lun (7-2) respectively. Charng Hui and Alias are the pair who qualified through the losers' bracket. Charng Hui overcame Pg Hj Husairi 7-3 while Alias edged Han Lun 7-6 to seal their berths in the next round.
The final will be contested today with the last-16 starting at noon.
