Brunei yet to win a game

Brunei have yet to pick up a win in any of their matches in karate-do and pencak silat at the ongoing Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA).

Last year's Southeast Asian (SEA) karateka bronze medalist Mairul Mohammad was defeated by Taufik Jafar from Sabah in the first round of the kumite Under-67kg category.

Teammate Mohd Hasif Pewira faced a loss at the hands of Kaartic Chiramjeevi from Sarawak in the first round of kumite Under-55kg category and in the female kumite Under-45kg category, Syafiqah Mohamad also lost her first round match to Hazimah Jamil from Perlis All three matches were played on Saturday.

Mohd Hamizan Sanif participated in the kumite Under-75kg category but lost his first round tie to Levenesswaran Asaithamby from Pulau Pinang on Sunday. Mohd Hamizan also lost his repercharge against Sabah's Mohd Zairam Zainal.

According to the SUKMA website, Bruneian karatekas will continue their fight today with two matches - Mohammad Riduan facing Chew Han Tiong from Pulau Pinang in the first round of the kumite Under-84 kg category and Mohd Hasif going up against Jegatiswaran M.Supramaniam from Kedah in the same category.

Things didn't get any better in pencak silat as Brunei's Mohd Amirul Azri and Siti Nabila lost their preliminary Class D (60kg-65kg) matches under the Class D 60kg-65kg. Mohd Amirul lost against Aliff Aiman from Negeri Sembilan on Thursday and Siti Khamishah from Terengganu handed Siti Nabila a defeat on Friday.
