The Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) is aiming for a top-three finish in the DST Super League this season.

The policemen only managed to place fifth out of 13 teams in last year's edition of the elite national league.

They recorded four wins, one draw and four losses in the tournament and managed to score 23 goals - while letting in 18 - throughout the campaign.

"We are aiming to finish in the top three this season. Last year was a bit disappointing as we only managed to finish fifth," said manager Staff Sgt Sahrin Hj Md Jaya in an interview with The Brunei Times last night.

"We have added five to six new players this season and all of them are aged 21 to 24 years old. They are still young but they are very talented. I hope that we will be able to achieve our target this year," he said.

MS PDB were supposed to go up against Wijaya FC at the Berakas Sports Complex on Sunday, but the game was postponed due to unsatisfactory pitch conditions following the downpour.

They are now scheduled to face QAF FC on Sunday at the same venue.

Captain Rosmini Hj Abdul Kahar - alongside senior players such as Mohd Fazizzul Hussin and Md Syarafuddin Hamdi Hj Talip - will once again lead the policemen this year.

Asked who he felt would be challenging for the top honours this season, Sharin replied: "I think teams that finished in the top five (Indera Sports Club, Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB), Majra United QAF FC and MS PDB) will be the favourites to win it this year,"

MS PDB ended their campaign last season with a 3-1 loss to Indera SC who pipped MS ABDB for the crown on the final day of the season.

The policemen kicked off last season on the wrong foot, going down 2-1 to MS ABDB in December, 2012.

They were held to a 4-4 draw by Majra the following week, before kicking off 2013 with a 4-1 victory over QAF, the game which the manager described as their best of the season.

They followed that up with a 5-0 thrashing of Najip FC and a 2-1 win over Wijaya FC.

They defeated Kilanas FC 3-2, but fell to Liang Lumut Recreational Club Football Team (LLRC FT) with a similar scoreline in their next game.

They dropped another three points after losing 2-1 to Jerudong FC before going down to Indera in their final game of the season.

This season's DST Super League features 10 teams - MS ABDB, Indera, MS PDB, QAF, Majra, Kilanas, Jerudong, Wijaya, Najip and LLRC.

The league kicked off on Monday with QAF and Jerudong sharing the spoils with a 2-2 draw at the Balapan Track and Field.
